My Humble Advice..

I was recently asked what advice I could give someone wanting to get into photography. My answer was to practice, practice, practice. When I purchased my first camera, I took it with me everywhere I went, hoping I would capture something. My wife and I would even plan trips so we could capture images. I carried my camera with me less and less as time passed, and here is why. I started to get more paid engagements, so my carefree shooting time became less and less. Don’t get me wrong, it is always great to be compensated for your passion; however, I miss the peace when shooting for pleasure. So, after giving it a little more thought, here are my four pieces of advice.

  1. Practice

  2. Get to know your camera (exposure settings etc.)

  3. Learn how to harness light.

  4. Be patient with yourself. Remember, life is a journey.

Happy shooting!
