There’s No Place Like Home

Operating my own business is rewarding. I particularly like the freedom it gives me to spend more time with family and friends. Because what I do requires a great deal of traveling, I experience new places to eat. Did I say eat? Yes, I did! One of my favorite places to eat is Vito's Italian restaurant in Turlock, Ca. The entrees are great, and the bread is to die for. My wife and I frequent Vito's so often that we are known by name. Mexican food is also a favorite of ours. La Parrilla in Modesto is our go-to restaurant when we want good Mexican food. It's our family favorite! Although eating out is nice occasionally, there is nothing like a good home-cooked meal. After working in the field all day, home is literally where my heart prefers to be. My favorite at-home foods are mac-n-cheese, fish, and potato salad. My wife, Carole, is an excellent cook, so I enjoy everything she prepares. Now, you are probably thinking, Jeff, you should have led with that. You are absolutely correct; I should have. However, I thought I would save the best for last. My point is that there's no place like home!

Because of the Covid virus, we have all had to isolate ourselves from those who were not part of our immediate family or those not part of a select group of individuals. This taught us that sharing time with family and friends is essential to well-being. For this reason, Carole and I decided to reach out to those friends we have missed to invite them to share a home-cooked meal with us. We chose to eat at home because we could catch up with what was occurring in all of our lives in a relaxed, uninterrupted atmosphere. It has been one of our most valued, rewarding gestures yet. Our souls have been fed and enriched by these friendships!

Indeed, there is no place like home. Great food and a place where the heart is nourished by family and friends!
